COHUTTA, Ga. — Last week, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions competed against some of the best in the NAIA, battling seven of the nation's top 10 teams in the Lady Roadrunner Spring Invite. Finishing with 973 (+109), FHU's 10th place finish was higher than three teams mentioned in the latest NAIA poll.
Hannah Ruth Walton led the Lady Lions with her first round being the best of any FHU golfer. She carded a pair of par-4 birdies while finishing with even par 11 other times. In the second round, she had 12 pars, before finishing with a par-3 birdie on the 12th hole in the final round. After three rounds, her 235 (+19) saw her finish with a share of 26th place.
Finishing in a tie for 49th place,
Zoe Phillips had a three-round 245 (+29). In the first round, she carded 10 pars before sinking a birdie on the par-4 15th hole in the second round. She finished up her tournament with a par-3 birdie on the 17th hole in round three.
Finishing one stroke behind her teammate,
Ansley Pratt had the most holes under par with an aggregate 246 (+30). She carded back-to-back birdies on the first and second holes in the first round before collecting three birdies in the second round. Her final round included 11 pars to help her finish in a tie for 51st place.
Aaricia Noel-Traissc completed all three rounds with 247 (+31) and a share of 54th place. She carded a birdie on the par-5 seventh hole in the first round before opening the second round with a birdie on the par-4 11th hole.
Finishing FHU's team scoring in 79th place was
Jadyn Thompson with 271 (+55). She finished the second round with seven pars before carding nine pars in the third round.
As an individual,
Maggie Crouch finished in 80th place with 272 (+56). She finished under par with a birdie on the par-5 16th hole in the first round while carding a birdie on the par-4 fourth hole in the second round.
