Shelby Smith signs to be Lady Lion golfer

INDIAN MOUND, Tenn. — As he continues his preparation for the spring 2026 half of his schedule, head golf coach Randall Rhodes added to his 2026-27 roster with the signing of Stewart County High School's Shelby Smith.

The 2024 Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association individual champion, Smith earned the low-score medal in multiple events while helping lead the SCHS Rebels to tournament wins. Her senior season, she averaged 75.3 strokes per round to help her win the district tournament before finishing as runner-up in the regional tournament. Earning another trip to the state tournament, she finished in the top 15 after being awarded District Player of the Year honors.

A victor on the Sneds Tour, she had wins at the Sneds Open at Henry Horton and at the Tournament of Champions.

Smith, also the Leaf-Chronicle Player of the Year, said, "I am beyond blessed and excited to continue my spiritual, academic, and athletic career with the amazing people at the university. This is an amazing opportunity and I am so honored Coach Rhodes picked me to represent him and FHU."

"Shelby is a dedicated and hungry competitor," said Coach Rhodes. "She brings a junior golf career and high school career filled with successes that are achieved by elite players. We expect her to have many more successes at the college level and are excited to have her as a teammate."
