HENDERSON — The (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions tasted victory for the first time this season with a 5-4 victory over the University of St. Francis (Ind.) Cougars. USF answered in the second game with a 10-8 final score.

The Lady Lions (1-3) struck first when
Chloe Carter belted a double to left-center to score FHU's first run at Tucker Field of the season.
USF (1-0) battled back to eventually climb to a two-run lead, but the Lady Lions' big sixth inning was highlighted by a two-run double for
Gracie Wilson to take a 5-4 lead that FHU held until the final out.
Chloe Carter and
Brinley Cousar each tallied two base hits.
Kylee Brown (1-2) earned the victory where she struck out four.

Freed-Hardeman (1-4) had a tough start in the second game after spotting the USF Cougars six runs in the top of the first inning. The Lady Lions would not cross a run until the bottom of the third inning.
Meanwhile, USF (1-1) added late runs with three in the seventh. The Lady Lions mounted a late comeback, scoring three in the fifth and four in the seventh, but FHU ran out of outs.
Chloe Carter was 3-3 while
Brooklyn Jimmerson,
Chloe Carter, and
Gracie Wilson eached had two base hits.
Anna Rogers (0-2) got the loss after 2 1/3 innings.
Katy Gartrell tossed the remaining 4 2/3.
