COLUMBUS, Ga. — Competing in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Kickoff, the (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions fell short twice on Friday. After coming up short against Truett McConnell (Ga.) Univeristy Bears, 9-6, the Lady Lions fell to the Louisiana Christian University Wildcats, 9-3.

The Lady Lions (2-1) fell behind early when Truett McConnell lifted a first-inning homer, but a three-run double from
Lana Rowland highlighted a four-run top of the second for FHU. Rowland would later drive in a third run with a single in the third inning.
Despite the sixth inning beginning with FHU leading the Bears (10-4) by three, a three-run homer tied the game before another three-run long ball allowed TMU to walk of the Lady Lions.
Hannah Jones and
Karli Quillin both tallied three base knocks, while
Lana Rowland's two hits drove in a team-high four RBI.
Hannah Jones (1-1) got the start in the circle where she struck out four Bears.

A single and a walk brought the tying run to the plate. The Bears used that to their advantage by tying the game with a three-run homer.

A leadoff double put the winning run in scoring position before a walk put two runners on. The Bears would get the walkoff victory with a three-run home run.

In the second game of the day, the Lady Lions (2-2) would score first with a two-run single from
Briley Wigginton, but Louisiana Christian added two runs of their own in the home half of the frame.
Louisiana Christian (7-7) had runs cross in the third and fourth innings before a four-run sixth put the game out of reach of the Lady Lions.
Karli Quillin and
Briley Wigginton each tallied two base hits with Wigginton driving in two of FHU's runs.
Madelyn Cornelius (0-1) debuted in the circle with 3 1/3 innings.
