Box Score JACKSON, Tenn. - April 30, 2008 - Eight Freed-Hardeman Lady
Lions were honored by the TranSouth Athletic Conference during the
conference tournament on Wednesday, April 30.
Four Lady Lions were chosen as first-team all-conference
players, led by junior pitcher
Tarrah Tucker. Tucker is second in the
conference in wins ERA (0.79) and strikeouts (250). Junior catcher
Brittany Bradford, who leads FHU in hitting with a .417 batting
average, was also a first-team selection along with sophomore Britney
Caldwell and senior
Brittany Johnson. Caldwell, a pitcher/first
baseman, leads the team in homeruns (6) and RBI (34) while batting .384
and won 10 games in the circle. Johnson, an outfielder, is currently
hitting .349 with 27 RBI and has made numerous spectacular plays with
her glove in centerfield.
Sophomore
Betsy Pickler and freshman
Brittany Steverson were
named to the second-team all-conference. Pickler, a second baseman, is
hitting .336 while Steverson, a third baseman/outfielder, is hitting
.338 and is second on the team in hits with 52.
Bradford,
Traci Gibbons, and
Alyssa Maberry were named as
TranSouth Conference Scholar Athletes. Recipients of the award must
have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and be a sophomore, junior, or senior.
The Lady Lions are 32-13 on the season.
