Lady Lions split on first day of Gulf Coast Invitational

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions split their two games at the Orange Beach Invitational on Friday, March 11, losing to No. 3 William Carey (Miss.), 9-0, before bouncing back to defeat Campbellsville (Ky.), 3-1.

FHU managed just one hit against WCU (14-0) but came back with a solid performance against Campbellsville. Sarah Elizabeth Cousar (1-1) tossed a two-hitter to earn her first collegiate win while Amber VanSandt blasted a three-run home run with two outs in the fifth.

Cousar helped her cause in the circle by collecting two hits in the game. VanSandt accounted for FHU's other two hits. Bailey Morgan had FHU's only hit in game one.
