Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion baseball team split a double-header with Culver-Stockton (Mo.) College on Friday afternoon, winning the first game 3-2 before dropping the nightcap 5-3.
Robert Prieto singled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh of game one, preserving the win for the Lions after CSC tied the game in the top of the frame.
The game was scoreless until the sixth inning, when Culver-Stockton got a run in the top of the inning. FHU answered with two in the bottom half on
Joe Mike's two-out single to take the lead.
Andy Southard (1-0) got the win in relief of
Roberto Ferguson, who went 6.2 innings and allowed two runs on nine hits while fanning six. Prieto,
Justin Mackey and
Jesse Hykes each had two hits in the game.
In game two, the Lions played catch-up the entire time after CSC got two runs in the second inning. FHU answered with one in the bottom of the second on an RBI double by
Jesse Hykes.
The same thing happened in the fourth inning, leaving the Lions down 4-2. FHU pulled within a run in the sixth on an RBI double by Mike.
CSC added insurance in the seventh inning with a run and retired FHU in order in the seventh to pick up the split.
The series concludes with a single game tomorrow at 10:00 AM.
