PULASKI, Tenn. – For the second time in as many weeks, Freed-Hardeman's Sarah Elizabeth Cousar has been named the TranSouth Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Cousar, a 5-foot-8 junior from Covington, Tenn., posted a perfect 2-0 record as part of a 4-0 week for the Lady Lions. Cousar was strong in both outings and was literally unhittable in the first, as she struck out 10 batters and allowed no hits and just one walk in a 8-0 five-inning win over Lyon (Ark.) College. The junior followed up her no-no with an equally impressive performance in the Lady Lions 5-1 win over No. 19 Mobile (Ala.). Cousar allowed just one hit and one run in the victory over the nationally-ranked Rams.
Cousar is now 4-0 on the season with a 0.80 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 26-1/3 innings pitched. She also leads the team with the plate with a .471 batting average with one home run and four RBIs in 19 plate appearances.
Martin Methodist's (Tenn.) Alley Benefield was named the conference player of the week.
