Box Score 2 PULASKI, Tenn. – The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions swept the season's seventh TranSouth Conference weekly softball honors as Sarah Elizabeth Cousar was named pitcher of the week and Mercedes Norfork was named player of the week.
Cousar, a junior from Covington, Tenn., continued her dominance of the award winning it for the seventh time in as many weeks. She went 2-0 in the circle with a pair of conference wins over Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College including her fifth shutout of the season.
Norfork, a senior shortstop from Ripley, Tenn., went 6-for-7 for the week with five RBIs. She went 2-for-3 in the opener against the RedHawks and drove in the lone run in a 1-0 win for FHU. She followed with a 4-for-4 performance and four RBIs, finishing the double header with six consecutive hits.
Despite the two wins against no losses for the week, Freed-Hardeman dropped one spot in the newest NAIA coaches poll to No. 22.
The Lady Lions currently sit atop the TranSouth Conference with a perfect 8-0 record and are 20-6 overall.
