Box Score 2 HENDERSON, Tenn. - With one swing of the bat, Kamara Trice kept the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions perfect in conference play.
Trice's two-out double off the center field wall in the top of the seventh inning drove in what proved to be the winning run as FHU swept a double-header from Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.), 5-0 and 3-2, on Friday afternoon.
After Kohnley Wade lined a single into right field, Trice drove a 3-2 pitch over the head of Trojan center fielder Rachel Hughes and Wade - who was running on the pitch - easily scored from first.
Sarah Elizabeth Cousar then retired the side in the bottom of the inning, striking out the final two batters.
Cousar (5-6) picked up the win in both ends of the twinbill, tossing a 11-strikeout shutout in game one before relieving Trice in the fifth inning of game two and fanning five more Trojan hitters.
In game one, FHU (8-11, 6-0) took advantage of two HLG errors to build its lead. After a Trice single drove in Jessica Weeks in the bottom of the first, Trice advanced to second when Hughes made a wild throw from center field and came around to score on Bailey Morgan's single.
In the third, Morgan again singled home Trice after Trice reached on a two-out error. It triggered a three-run inning capped by a two-run triple by Cousar.
The five-run lead was more than enough for Cousar, who held the Trojans to four hits and didn't allow a runner to advance past second base.
In the second game, FHU twice came back from a one-run deficit. Amanda Bond singled in Trice in the fourth to tie the game and Allie Carpenter hit a solo home run in the fifth to tie it again after the Trojans picked up a run in the bottom of the fourth.
The score remained 2-2 until Trice's double turned out to be the game-winner.
Morgan had two hits in game one while Trice and Carpenter both had two hits in game two.
