Box Score 3 ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions split a pair of games again on the second day of the Orange Beach Invitational, falling 4-1 to Spring Hill (Ala.) before bouncing back with a 3-1 win over Thomas (Ga.).
Spring Hill used a three-run sixth to open things up in the first game, taking advantage of a pair of Lady Lion errors. Meanwhile, Caroline Sagrera made things difficult on the FHU offense, tossing a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts.
Kamara Trice hit a solo home run in the seventh inning, her fourth of the season, to account for the Lady Lions' only run.
Katie Clarke (0-1) pitched well but took the loss, giving up only four hits and one earned run while striking out four.
FHU came back with a win in the second game behind a strong effort in the circle by Mallory Spurlock (2-1), who allowed one unearned run on six hits in going the distance. She struck out four.
The Lady Lions got sacrifice flies from Trice and Bo Sullivan in the first two innings, and Amanda Bond delivered an RBI single in the sixth. Thomas scored its lone run in the fourth inning.
Freed-Hardeman advances into bracket play tomorrow. Opponents and times had not been announced as of Saturday night.
