HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion Softball team notched their ninth straight conference win Saturday afternoon, as they picked up a sweep of Hannibal-LaGrange with a 3-2 victory in the opening game followed by a 2-0 shutout in the nightcap at Morgan Stadium.

The opening game of the day was a pitcher's duel from the start, as it took six innings before any runs crossed the plate. However, in the end three runs would be just enough, as the Lady Lions (19-10, 11-1 AMC) secured the 3-2 victory.

Makenzie Prince picked up the win in the opener after working two innings of relief in the extra innings session and allowing just one hit and one walk in the six batters she faced. Prince entered the game in the eighth inning with the score tied at two runs apiece and shut the Trojans down in the final two innings. Mallory Spurlock got the start for the Lady Lions and pitched a gem, allowing just three hits and no earned runs while striking out nine.

Caitlyn Carter led the Lady Lions at the plate in the opener, as she went 3-for-5 on the day with an RBI while Kaylyn Graham went 2-for-5 with two RBI and the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth inning to propel FHU to a 3-2 victory.

The story was much of the same for both teams in the nightcap, as it took six innings before either team would find their way around the base path. However, when it mattered the Lady Lions came through with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, which was all they needed to secure the 2-0 shutout.

Makenzie Prince (10-5) picked up her 10th win of the season, as she worked a complete game and allowed just five hits and no earned runs while striking out nine batters. In addition to her success in the circle, Prince also found success at the plate, as she went 2-for-3 on the day while Annalise Jarnagin followed close behind and went 1-for-3 on the day with two RBI to lead FHU to the 2-0 victory.

With the sweep, the Lady Lions move to 19-10 on the season and 11-1 in conference play. Hannibal-LaGrange falls to 1-25 on the season and 0-12 in AMC play with the sweep.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions are back in action on the road Monday, April 2nd, as they make the trip to Central Baptist College for a double-header scheduled for 2:00 PM in Conway, Ark.
