HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion Softball team continued to roll in conference play Friday afternoon, as they picked up a sweep of Lindenwood University-Belleville with a 3-1 win in the opening game followed by a 9-3 victory in the nightcap at Morgan Stadium.

Makenzie Prince (11-6) picked up the win for FHU in the opening game, as she worked a complete game and allowed just one hit while striking out nine batters. Prince also led the Lady Lions at the plate, as she went 1-for-3 in the opener and contributed two RBI.

Despite giving up an early run in the top of the first inning, the Lady Lions (22-11, 14-2 AMC) were not phased, as they put together a three-run fifth inning to regain the lead. Abbi Gooch got the inning started for the Lady Lions with a single to shallow left field and found her way around the base path later in the inning following an infield single by Caitlyn Carter and a wild throw by Lynx first baseman Melissa Martineck to put FHU up 1-0.

The Lady Lions added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Caitlyn Carter and MattiAnne Sparks both crossed the plate following an RBI single by Makenzie Prince to give FHU a 3-1 edge, which was all they needed to pick up the win.

The Lady Lions kept the momentum going in the nightcap, as they picked up a convincing 9-3 victory to complete the sweep of Lindenwood-Belleville (17-17, 6-7 AMC). Mallory Spurlock (10-4) picked up her 10th win of the season after working a complete game and giving up six hits and three earned runs while striking out nine batters.

Caitlyn Carter led the Lady Lions at the plate, as she went a perfect 3-for-3 and contributed two RBI in the win. Three other Lady Lion players recorded multi-hit games in the nightcap including Makenzie Prince, Kaylyn Graham and Mallory Spurlock, who pounded out two hits in the match-up.

The Lady Lions did a majority of their damage in the bottom of the fourth inning, as five runs crossed the plate to put FHU up 8-3. Prior to the fourth inning, the Lynx had reduced FHU's lead to just one run at the 3-2 mark before the five-run outburst.

FHU added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Mallory Spurlock pounded out a homerun over the right field fence to put FHU up 9-3, which was all they needed to secure the win.

With the sweep, the Lady Lions move to 22-11 on the season and 14-2 in conference play. Lindenwood-Belleville falls to 17-17 on the season and 6-7 in AMC play with the sweep.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions are back in action Sunday, April 15th, as they host a double-header with St. Louis College of Pharmacy scheduled for 12:00 PM at Morgan Stadium. Sunday's match-up will serve as Senior Day, where the senior members of the team will be honored.
