GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Lady Lions softball team (4-1) fell short for the first time this season after falling 2-1 to LSU-Alexandria (11-4) after the Generals scored on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The No. 12 Lady Lions jumped on the board first in the top of the first inning after they had bases loaded and Allie Mitchell was brought home when Lilly Bombard drew a two-out walk.

After a scoreless second inning, the Generals evened things back up in the bottom of the third when a ball got past Sophie Dunavant behind the plate, scoring Alexis Hagan.

The game would be in a 1-1 stalemate until the bottom of the seventh inning when Bailey McCleary hit a one-out single, scoring Jayden Dukes and winning the game for LSU-Alexandria.

The Lady Lions also fell in the second game of the day, going down 14-4 to Martin Methodist, who they swept in a double-header at home last week.

The team will take on William Carey and Bethel on Sunday to close out the Gulf Shores Invitational.
