WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – The Lady Lions softball team (11-6, 5-3 AMC) split its road series with Williams Baptist (10-12, 5-3 AMC) on Saturday, winning game one 2-1, but falling 7-6 in game two.

The Eagles took an early 1-0 lead in game one in the bottom of the third inning, but the Lady Lions tied it up late in the game thanks to a solo home run by Kaylyn Graham in the top of the sixth inning.

The visitors scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh when Kristen Hunsicker hit a sacrifice fly with one out, scoring Lilly Bombard.

Morgan Crawford threw a complete game, going the full seven innings and striking out three batters. She had two runners on base in the bottom of the final inning with one out, and forced the Eagles into two straight ground outs to win the game.

Game two of the double-header was full of runs with the Eagles coming out on top 7-6 despite a late-game surge from the Lady Lions.

Freed-Hardeman went ahead 1-0 in the top of the first inning when Cassie Hayes scored off of a single by Annalise Jarnagin. Williams Baptist answered in the bottom half of the inning, though, sending the game into the second inning tied at one run each.

The home squad scored two more runs in the bottom of the second, but the Lady Lions were able to tie it up after scoring a run in both the third and fourth innings.

Jarnagin got her second RBI of the game when she hit another single, scoring Hunsicker in the top of the third. In the top of the fourth, Sophie Dunavant hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Bombard to tie the game.

The Eagles would explode for a four-run inning in the bottom of the sixth, putting the Lady Lions in a hole heading into the final inning.

Freed-Hardeman would make a strong push at a comeback, scoring three runs in the inning, all by solo home runs. Graham, Jarnagin and Crawford hit back-to-back-to-back shots with one out, but it wouldn't be enough as the Lady Lions wouldn't score another run in the inning.

Emily Bradford got the start in the circle and struck out three batters.

The Lady Lions return home on Monday when they take on Bethel University in a double-header. Game one is set to begin at 4 p.m.
