HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lady Lions softball team (23-12, 13-9 AMC) fell in both games against Lindenwood University-Belleville (30-20, 18-6 AMC) on Saturday afternoon, losing 3-1 in game one and dropping game two 6-3.

Game one was a scoreless affair between the two teams through the first five innings of action. The Lynx finally broke the stalemate in the top of the sixth, but the Lady Lions were able to answer in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game.

Cassie Hayes hit a one-out single, and she reached third after Kaylyn Graham hit a double to right field. The Lynx intentionally walked Annalise Jarnagin to load the bases and have a force at any bag. Morgan Crawford stepped into the batter's box as a pinch hitter, and she was able to hit a sacrifice fly out to center field, allowing Hayes to tie the game.

The Lynx jumped out and scored two runs in the top of the seventh, though, and the Lady Lions were unable to answer.

In game two, Freed-Hardeman took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Caitlin Mitchell brought in Allie Mitchell on a groundout. The Lynx would answer with a run of their own in the top of the third, and they would take control from there, scoring two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to make it 5-1.

The Lady Lions came back in the bottom of the sixth with two runs to make it 5-3. Crawford led the inning off with a double, and after MattiAnne Sparks was put out, Caitlin Mitchell swapped places with Brittan Jarrell, who was pinch running for Crawford, making it a three-run game.

Meagan Frye went out to second base for Mitchell and was brought in to score after the bases had been loaded and Graham got hit by a pitch. The Lynx were able to get out of the inning after holding the Lady Lions to just two runs.

The visitors were able to add one more in the top of the seventh to make it 6-3, and the Lady Lions were unable to start a last-inning rally.

Despite losing both games on Saturday, the Lady Lions still maintain control of the fifth spot in the conference standings. They will have to make up their series against Missouri Baptist in order to determine seeding for the conference tournament. A time for that makeup game has not been set.
