Lady Lions take one of two in Gulf Shores

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Lady Lions softball team (1-5) took one of their first two games at the Gulf Shores Invitational on Friday, falling 9-5 in their first matchup against Central Methodist (6-4), but knocking off Webber International (15-2) 5-1 in their second contest.

In the win over Webber, freshman Catherine Crabb threw a gem from the circle, going all seven innings while striking out eight batters and not surrendering an earned run.

Sophie Dunavant and Kennedy Harris both went 2-for-3 at the plate, each hitting a home run in the contest. Harris brought in three runs while Dunavant brought in the other two.

In game one, Dunavant hit her first home run of the Invitational while going 2-for-3 in the contest. Cassie Hayes also went 2-for-3 with a double, and Caitlin Mitchel had a double with two RBIs.

The Lady Lions will continue their time in Gulf Shores on Saturday when they take on No. 18 William Carey at 9 a.m., followed by a matchup with Thomas University at 2 p.m.
