Box Score 2 HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lady Lions softball team (8-2, 2-0 MSC) continued its hot streak to open the season with 3-0 and 2-1 wins over (RV) Georgetown College (0-2, 0-2 MSC) to open up Mid-South Conference play on Thursday afternoon.
Game one was a pitcher's dual, highlighted by FHU starter Morgan Crawford, who went the full seven innings, striking out nine batters while only surrendering two hits and two walks. The game was tied at 0-0 through five and a half innings before the Lady Lions were able to open it up in the bottom of the sixth.
Annalise Jarnagin led the inning off with a double, followed by a one-out RBI double by Allie Mitchell to break the stalemate. Brittan Jarrell later walked and was advanced to second on a ground ball, also advancing Mitchell to third with two outs. Both runs were then brought in by Kennedy Harris when she hit the third double of the inning.
Game two was just like game one, but the Lady Lions were able to take a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Cassie Hayes brought in Catherine Crabb on a sacrifice fly.
After three scoreless innings, the Tigers were able to get on the scoreboard for the first time in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game. But the Lady Lions responded as they have all season, loading the bases up with one out to allow Sophie Dunavant to drive in Jarrell as the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly.
Brittany Adair continued to stay unbeaten on the season after throwing seven innings while striking out nine batters.
The four-game series is scheduled to come to a close on Friday with a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m.
