Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

HENDERSON, Tenn. – The No. 22 Lady Lions (22-6, 12-4 MSC) won games one and two against Bethel University (18-8, 12-8 MSC) 4-2 and 2-0 to start the four-game Mid-South Conference series on Friday night.

Game two of the doubleheader was a solid pitcher's dual, dominated by Brittany Adair for the Lady Lions.

The sophomore struck out the first nine batters she saw on her way to a career-high 16 strikeouts in a complete-game, shutout win.

Bethel was able to hold the Lady Lions hitless through three innings before leadoff hitter Catherine Crabb doubled to left field and was later brought in by a Sophie Dunavant no-doubt home run over the left-field fence.

Adair continued her dominance through the remainder of the game to lead the Lady Lions to the 2-0 win.

In game one of the series, the Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead, but the Lady Lions responded quickly when Kennedy Harris hit a one-out double and was brought in by Dunavant who hit an RBI single in the next at-bat. Dunavant stole second and was brought in by Cassie Hayes with a two-out single to give the Lady Lions a 2-1 lead.

Bethel added one more run to tie the game in the fourth, but fielding errors and strong base running for the Lady Lions led to two more runs to take a 4-2 lead, which they held on to for the win.

Morgan Crawford got the start and the win for the Lady Lions, going five innings with five strikeouts. Chloe Winters earned the two-inning save with three strikeouts.

The series is scheduled to continue on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
