Box Score 2 HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lady Lions softball team (37-9, 25-7 MSC) knocked off Shawnee State (8-31, 6-26 MSC) 7-1 and 8-0 on Friday, advancing them to the Mid-South Conference Tournament final site.
The Lady Lions had control from start to finish in both games, thanks to stellar pitching from both Morgan Crawford and Brittany Adair.
Crawford threw a complete game in game one with six strikeouts, no walks, and not surrendering her first hit until the top of the sixth inning. Adair went six innings thanks to a run rule, striking out 16 batters and taking a no-hitter into the fourth inning.
The bats were alive for the Lady Lions as well in both contests. Catherine Crabb put together a 4-for-8 day combined after going 3-for-4 in game one with two doubles and a single.
Kennedy Harris provided the power for the 16th-ranked team in the nation, hitting a three-run shot in the bottom of the sixth inning of game one, and hitting the “walk off” two-run bomb in the bottom of the sixth in game two to give the Lady Lions the 8-0 run-rule win, while also adding a triple to her tally.
The Lady Lions will await their opponent for the six-team, double-elimination tournament for the conference title. The tournament is slated for May 6-9 in Columbia, Kentucky, on the campus of Lindsey Wilson College.
