Box Score 2 LAKE WALES, FLA — The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions (4-0) were able to defeat the Warner University Royals (2-2) in both games of the Friday, February 11th, double header. With the final scores of these matchups being 6-1 and 5-2.
In the first game of the series the Lady Lions were able to win due to a dominant performance from pitcher Brittany Adair on the mound. This performance was aided in no small part due to some big offense from Kennedy Harris, Sophie Dunavant, and Allie Mitchell.
The lights out performance from Brittany Adair on the mound cannot be understated. She pitched a full seven innings, striking out 14, and only allowing two hits in the contest.
To go along with this pitching, there were ample scoring opportunities created. Kennedy Harris collected three RBIs on two hits, Allie Mitchell went a perfect three-for-three with two doubles, and Sophie Dunavant grabbed an RBI on a double in the top of the third inning which scored both Harris and Mitchell.
The second matchup was a closer contest. The bats were flying to begin the second game as the first inning featured a 2-1 scoreline in favor of the Royals. This lead did not last long as the Lady Lions roared back awake in the top of the third to gain a 3-2 lead by way of a Cassie Hayes infield single. They stretched this lead out to an eventual 5-2, which was the final scoreline.
The Lady Lions finished the day 2-0, advancing to 4-0 on the season, while continuing their Orlando Road Trip. They will play again tomorrow against Southeastern University at 1:00 and 3:00 PM, as they look to continue this solid start to the season.
