Box Score 2 COLUMBUS Ga. – The No. 15 Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions (10-0) continued their hot start with two wins on Saturday against Taylor University (RV) and Bryan College.
The unbeaten Lady Lions sent Junior standout Brittany Adair to the mound to start the first game of the day. FHU began the game down 2-0 after the top of the second. The Lady Lions exploded in the bottom half of the second for 6 runs of their own and never looked back. Caitlin Mitchell led off the big inning with a walk. Cassie Hayes knocked a double to put runners on second and third. Hayes scored off a passed ball and Anna Kate Norton singled to bring in Hayes and tie the game. Sophie Dunavant added a two-run double in the inning to add some insurance. Anna Kate Norton had a stellar day at the plate for the Lady Lions finishing 2 for 3 with an RBI. Freed-Hardeman would go on to win their first game of the day by a score of 7-2.
Emily Bradford got the start on the mound for the Lady Lions in their second game against Bryan College. The scoring for the afternoon was opened up in the bottom of the third inning as catcher Sophie Dunavant hit a two-run bomb to give the Lady Lions a 2-0 lead. Bradford made it through 4 innings without giving up a run before running into some trouble in the fifth allowing two runs. Bradford's day ended with a final stat line of 4.1 IP, 6 hits and 2 runs, she also struck out 3. Morgan Crawford came in relief and got the Lady Lions out of the jam. Kennedy Harris hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the Lady Lions up 4-2. Crawford would finish the final two innings for the Lady Lions allowing only 3 hits and no runs, and FHU went on to win by a final score of 4-2 to improve to 10-0 on their young, impressive season.
Freed-Hardeman has one game left in the NFCA Classic in Columbus against Georgia Gwinnett. First pitch is slated for 11:00 AM on Field 1 of the complex.
