Box Score 2 HENDERSON, TN — The Freed Hardeman Lady Lions (19-0) finished off a strong series against the Pikeville University Bears as they took all four games on the March 10-11 stretch.
The Lady Lions jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the first of two games, after an impressive string of offense from the Lady Lions. Annalise Jarnagin collected five RBIs in the first two innings being supported by an opposite field solo shot by Allie Mitchell, and a couple hits scoring runs from Sophie Dunavant. The Lady Lions continued to grow this lead until it reached an eventual 16-1, "mercy rule," victory in five innings. Brittany Adair continued her dominance on the mound in the contest as she pitched a complete game allowing just one run; striking out eight.
The second game of the day was in opposition to the first as they could not get started at the plate, scoring just one run in six innings. Anna Kate Norton was sure to flash the leather on the hot corner throughout the matchup, and should not go unnoticed. Then came a clutch final inning, 2-run, homerun to deep center field by Norton, tying the game 3-3. The Lady Lions took the lead in the 10th inning on a throwing error by the pitcher, on a Catherine Crabb batted ball. This gave FHU the 4-3 win.
The Lady Lions outscored the Bears 28-5 on the weekend, and are in search of their 20th win of the season in as many games. The Lady Lions hope to remain perfect in their games at home Tuesday, March 15, 2022 against Williams Baptist at 3:00 and 5:00 PM.
