Box Score 2 LEBANON, Tn. – The No. 3 Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions (24-1, 11-1) continued their winning ways on Friday afternoon in Lebanon against the Cumberland Phoenix (11-12, 8-9). The Lady Lions won the doubleheader by final scores of 7-2 and 6-1.
Morgan Crawford received the start in the circle for the Lady Lions to begin the series. The Lady Lion offense came to play to back her up. Annalise Jarnagin broke the 0-0 tie in the top of the second with a double down the left field line scoring Cassie Hayes. The balls were flying off the bat as the Lady Lions registered 3 home runs in Game 1. Allie Mitchell, Cassie Hayes, and Anna Kate Norton all left the yard in the Lady Lions 7-2 victory. Morgan Crawford finished with another complete game, registering 12 strikeouts, as she earned her ninth win with no losses. Cassie Hayes and Anna Kate Norton both finished the game going 3-4 at the plate.
The Lady Lions went into Game 2 of the series with Chloe Winters in the circle. Winters also pitched a complete game giving up only 4 hits and sitting down 5 as she picked up her eighth win of the year. FHU got the scoring started early in the top of the first, Sophie Dunavant and Caitlin Mitchell both drove in runs to give the Lady Lions an early 3-0 lead. The score would remain the same until an Annalise Jarnagin homer broke the drought in the sixth as she continued her great afternoon. Caitlin Mitchell would add a two-run insurance shot in the seventh to put an exclamation point on the Lady Lions' day.
The Lady Lions will be back in action on Saturday at 11:00 and 1:00 CDT in Lebanon with another doubleheader to finish the series against the Phoenix.
