Box Score 2 ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions swept Missouri Baptist on the road in a midweek matchup in St. Louis on Tuesday. The Lady Lions won the games by the final scores of 9-0 and 6-1.
The Lady Lions dominated Game 1 throughout. Junior standout Brittany Adair controlled the game in the circle. Adair finished the game allowing only two hits and recording 12 strikeouts in the 5 inning win. Allie Mitchell opened the scoring with a 3-run bomb in the second inning. Catherine Crabb followed that up a couple of batters later with a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 4-0 at the end of the second. Annalise Jarnagin hit a solo shot in the third inning. Crabb, Sophie Dunavant, and Caitlin Mitchell added RBIs in the fifth to close out the game with a 9-0 Lady Lion victory.
Game 2 of the doubleheader was more competitive throughout. Chloe Winters began the game in the circle for the Lady Lions and pitched well. Winters made it deep into the fifth inning allowing only 1 run and 3 hits while striking out 8. The Lady Lions took a 2-0 lead in the third inning after Sophie Dunavant and Kennedy Harris each drove in a run. Emily Bradford took over for Winters in the fifth with a slim 2-1 lead and the Spartans threatening. Bradford shut the door on the home team and picked up the two inning save without allowing a hit. The Lady Lions offense provided some insurance in the top of the sixth adding four runs. Anna Kate Norton, Caitlin Mitchell, Sophie Dunavant, and Kennedy Harris all drove in runs for FHU in the 6-1 victory.
The Lady Lions will look to lock up the regular season Mid-South Conference championship this coming weekend with a series against rival Bethel University in Mckenzie. The first pitch times for Friday are set for 3:00 and 5:00 PM.
