Box Score 2 MCKENZIE Tn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions clinched the regular season Mid-South Conference championship at Bethel with two big wins. The 6-2 and 2-0 wins helped put the Lady Lions 3.5 games up on second place Campbellsville with only 2 games remaining.
Morgan Crawford had an excellent game for the Lady Lions in Game 1. Crawford received the start in this one and pitched into the sixth inning allowing only two runs on five hits. She also helped herself out at the plate launching a two-run home run in the fifth. Sophie Dunavant went 2 for 3 at the plate and drove in two runs. Kennedy Harris added some offense for the Lady Lions as well by driving in two runs of her own. Chloe Winters relieved Crawford in the sixth and finished out the game for the Lady Lions striking out 4 of the 7 batters she faced in the 6-2 victory.
Brittany Adair received the start in Game 2 of this series and was once again dominant in the circle. Adair pitched a complete game shutout and collected 16 strikeouts. She only allowed 3 hits. Sophie Dunavant opened the scoring early for FHU with an RBI single in the first. The Lady Lions wouldn't strike again until an Anna Kate Norton single brought in Cassie Hayes in the sixth to make the game 2-0. Hayes had a nice game at the plate going 2 for 3.
The Lady Lions will look to put an exclamation point on the season tomorrow as they finish out their regular season with two final games against Bethel in McKenzie. The first pitch for the games are slated for 12:00 and 2:00 PM.
