WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. — Taking the field against a former conference foe, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions battled the American Midwest Conference's Williams Baptist (Ark.) University Lady Eagles on Tuesday. The Lady Lions swept past the Lady Eagles with a 5-2 victory in game one before an 8-0 shutout.

Early baserunners have been a boon all season for Freed-Hardeman (15-10) with
Karli Quillin leading off with a walk before back-to-back singles from
Natalie Gilmore and
Alivia Eggleston, with the latter driving in the first run of the game. With
Brooklyn Jimmerson being hit by a pitch to load the bases,
Chloe Carter and
Brinley Cousar contined the carousel to put the Lady Lions up 3-0 after the first half-inning.
FHU picked up another run over WBU (15-10) in the top of the third when Quillin's single drove home Cousar to take a 4-0 lead. Quillin would later drive in the fifth and final FHU run of the first game by driving in
Myleah Hardy in the top of the fifth inning. A pair of late runs would score for the Lady Eagles, but the early run support gave FHU the 5-2 win.
Chloe Winters (4-3) pitched five scoreless innings where she struck out five.
Karli Qullin was perfect at the plate by going 3-3 and driving in two runs.
Brinley Cousar has two hits and drove in a run.

Karli Qullin continued to wield a white-hot bat for the Lady Lions (16-10) by leading off game two with a single up the middle before a sacrifice bunt and a steal put the sophomore 60 feet from home.
Brooklyn Jimmerson landed a single into right field to plate Quillin and give the Lady Lions the 1-0 lead.
After a WBU (15-11) error led off the top of the third inning,
Brinley Cousar singled home the unearned run to put FHU on top by two runs. Cousar would strike again in the top of the fifth inning when she drove home Jimmerson to score the third run, later scoring thanks to
Kiersten Perry's two-run single to give the Lady Lions a 5-0 lead after five full innings.
Jimmerson showed off her power with a solo home run down the left-field line in the top of the sixth before
Alivia Eggleston one-upped Jimmerson with a two-run blast in the top of the seventh frame to finalize the score at 8-0.
Reigning Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Week
Brittany Adair (4-3) earned the victory without surrendering a hit while striking out five Lady Eagles in as many innings of work.
Katelyn Bradford tossed two innings of scoreless softball where she punched out four.
Brinley Cousar was 4-4 from the dish while driving in two.
Brooklyn Jimmerson ended 4-4 with two RBI,
Karli Quillin tallied three hits, and
Kiersten Perry drove in two with her two hits.
