Track and field competes in first meet of the season

CONWAY, Ark. — The Freed-Hardeman men's and women's track and field teams kicked off the 2024 season on Saturday, March 2, at the Hendrix College Invitational in Conway, Arkansas, against teams from 18 other universities.

Sean Janiec finished in second place overall in the men's 400 meter run with a time of 50.56 seconds, the fourth fastest time in FHU history. Janiec owns the top three times, as well.

In the men's 5000 meter run, Bo Scott, Barrett Poe, Drew Williams, and Daniel Puckett finished in third, fourth, eighth, and ninth place, respectively, with Scott setting a new personal record of 15:48.49. In addition to his fourth place finish in the 5K, Poe placed third in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Hendrix marks the first collegiate track meet for freshmen Poe and Puckett.

Noah Johnson finished in seventh place in the men's 200 meter run, setting a new personal record of 22.79 seconds, the second fastest time in FHU history. Johnson also finished in eighth place in the 100 meter run, with the fourth fastest time in the event in FHU history.

In men's javelin, Keegan Maguffee finished in fifth place overall, and in his first collegiate tack meet, Greer Davis finished in sixth place.

Coming off her strong finish in December at the NAIA Marathon in Sacramento, California, Megan Lampley set a new personal record in the women's 800 meter run. Finishing off the new personal records on the team, Elliha Baker and Hayden Cook set new personal records in the men's 100 meter run.
