MCKENZIE, Tenn. — The (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions softball team split on the doubleheader day of a Mid-South Conference Saturday, first topping the Lady Wildcats of Bethel University 5-4 in eight innings before being walked off in the finale 4-1.

Karli Quillin led off the game for the Lady Lions (7-9, 2-3 MSC) with a single before a stolen base and a sacrifice bunt set up a double steal to score the first run of the game.
The Wildcats (14-7, 1-4 MSC) answered with a three-run bottom of the first before adding insurance in the fourth. After the Lady Lions pushed two runs across in the top of the fifth,
Christa Warren took over to drive in both the tying run in the sixth and the winning run in the eighth.
Brinley Cousar led the day with three hits while
Karli Quillin ended with two. Christa Warred drove in two runs.
Anna Rogers (1-3) earned her first collegiate win with a two-strikeout complete game.

Neither team had trouble getting on base with the Lady Lions (7-10, 2-4 MSC) smacking 10 hits in the second game of the day while Bethel connected for eight despite combining for five runs. One of those 10 hits for FHU came with
Myleah Hardy smashing a home run to put the Lady Lions up by one run.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when Bethel (15-7, 2-4 MSC) collected four hits including one that drove in the tying run. It was not until the bottom of the seventh when a single and an error was followed by a walkoff three-run homer.
Chloe Carter,
Myleah Hardy, and
Karli Quillin all had two hits in the game.
Kylee Brown (5-6) struck out three batters in the loss.
