HENDERSON — The Lady Lions of Freed-Hardeman University grabbed two wins over the Phoenix of Cumberland University first in a 5-4 walkoff win in the first game before run-ruling the Phoenix 12-4.

Freed-Hardeman (8-10, 3-4 MSC) fell behind to the Phoenix early after a three-run first inning. Showing their grit the Lady Lions shut down UC's offense the rest of the game with
Chloe Carter's double plating a run to put the Lady Lions on the scoreboard.
After scoring two in the fifth and one in the sixth,
Brinley Cousar's leadoff single put FHU's tying run into scoring position before the Phoenix (11-14, 2-2 MSC) walked
Myleah Hardy to put the winning run on. Two quick outs looked to put out the fire, but a hit batsman loaded the bases for
Karli Quillin who calmly landed a single to right to drive home the tying and winning runs.
The Lady Lions tallied 10 base hits, led by
Chloe Carter,
Brooklyn Jimmerson, and
Karli Quillin all tallying two.
Kylee Brown (6-6) got the complete-game victory while striking out two.

It was another come-from-behind victory in the second game of the doubleheader, though the Lady Lions (9-10, 4-4 MSC) turned it into a run-rule victory thanks to a four-run second inning and a six-run third. Back-to-back doubles from
Brooklyn Jimmerson and
Brinley Cousar gave FHU a 2-2 lead.
The middle frames were the big ones with the bases being cleared twice.
Myleah Hardy drove two runs home in the FHU second with a third crossing thanks to a Cumberland (11-15, 2-3 MSC) error.
Briley Wigginton doubled home three runs in the third before
Christa Warren hit a two-run single to put the Lady Lions over the run-rule threshold.
FHU saw two Lady Lions earn three-hit days from
Brinley Cousar and
Karli Quillin.
Chloe Carter also had two hits. Cousar was joined by
Briley Wigginton to lead the day with three RBI while
Myleah Hardy and
Christa Warren each had two.
Anna Rogers (2-3) tossed all five innings in the victory.
