CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Beginning their quest to repeat as Mid-South Conference champions, the No. 2 seed Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions claimed victory over the third-seeded Campbellsville University Tigers 5-1.
Freed-Hardeman (20-14) got on the board in a big way when
Myleah Hardy tallied a mammoth homer to score herself and
Chloe Carter to take an early lead in the bottom of the first.
Campbellsville (27-15) had a run cross with a two-hit half inning, but the Lady Lions managed to score two runs in the home half of the fourth inning before
Brinley Cousar drove home the final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth to advance to the semifinal round.
Myleah Hardy had three of FHU's seven base hits while driving in two runs.Â
Kylee Brown (13-10) secured the complete-game victory with a three-strikeout performance

Grayson Mayo extended the inning after reaching first on a dropped third strike with two outs before
Gracie Wilson was hit by a pitch. After a wild pitch moved both runners into scoring position,
Lana Rowland's grounder was fielded when the Tiger shortstop was unable to apply a tag to allow Rowland to reach on a fielder's choice while also driving in Mayo. The late throw to attempt to get Rowland out sailed errantly to allow Wilson to score an unearned run.
