HENDERSON — Competing in Henderson for the first time in 2025 the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lion soccer team came up short against the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University by a 1-0 final score.
A midfield battle of attrition, the first shot for either team came at 19:02 with the Lady Lions (0-2-1) getting their first shot from
Ellie Wood coming at 25:08.
Ava Pierce stopped back-to-back shots on goal before the Hornets floated a shot in the 42nd minute to light the scoreboard.
Tsiele Mokebe had a strong shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the HSSU (1-0-1) keeper kept it out of the net. The last chance for FHU came with a shot from
Isabel Croke at 63:29.
The Lady Lions had four shots, two of which were on target. Pierce had four saves in the match.
