ST. SIMMONS ISLAND, Ga. — Finishing the annual Coastal Gerogia College Fall Classic, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions remained stationary, finishing the 36-hole tournament in fourth place with a team 650 (+74).
Hannah Ruth Walton led FHU with a fifth-place finish and a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Three of the five Lady Lions improved their scores from round one to round two, with the other two adding a maximum of three strokes. As a team FHU's 12 birdies were the third-most of the nine competing teams.
All three teams to finish above the Lady Lions on the leaderboard were mentioned in the top 20 of the NAIA preseason poll. Additionally, FHU finished a spot above the NCAA Divison I opponent in the Citadel (S.C.) by 33 strokes.
Finishing in a tie for fifth place with a two-round 155 (+11)
Hannah Ruth Walton was also named tot he All-Tournament team after securing a 77 (+5) in the second round. Walton carded a birdie on the par-4 16th while securing par on 11 other holes. Walton scored four birdies in two round - the fifth-most of any of the 57 golfer on the course.
Zoe Phillips' 78 (+6) in the second round was highlighted by a pair of par-4 birdies on the second and ninth holes before scoring a birdie on the par-3 15th. Her combined 157 (+13) gave her a top-10 finish with a spot at ninth place.
Ansley Pratt finished in 24th place with an aggregate 167 (+23). In the second round she carded a birdie on the par-5 18th hole to help her to score 82 (+12).
The biggest turnaround for FHU came from the clubs of
Aaricia Noel-Traissac by trimming off four stokes from round one to round two. Her 84 (+12) was helped by 11 pars. A two-round total of 172 (+28) helped her place 30th.
Jadyn Thompson's second-round 90 (+18) helped her score a total of 177 (+33) to end with a share of 34th place.
