MT. VERNON, Ga. — Despite taking an early lead the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions found themselves down a man to fall to the Brewton-Parker Christian (Ga.) University Barons 2-1.
The Lady Lions (0-6-1) began with sustained pressure with three goals being fired toward the BPCU net within the first 15 minutes of the match. The pressure kept mounting until FHU finally broke through at 23:49 when a great cross from
Isabel Croke landed squarely on the boot of
Hadley Husband who ensured the game-opening goal.
Things went south when the Lady Lions needed to play the remaining 55 minutes down a man. A free kick from the home team at 30:20 leveled the scores. The Lady Lions had plenty of offensive attempts, firing 15 shots toward the Baron net with 12 of those being on target. On the defensive side, FHU saw eight shots with four on goal. The knell was struck in the 87th minute with a floating shot found the back of the net to give BPCU the win.
Hadley Husband had three shots for FHU with all being on goal.
