COLUMBUS, Ga. — In the second afternoon of the National Fastpitch Coaches Assoiciation Kickoff, the (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions split. After falling to the (RV) WIlliam Carey (Miss.) Universtiy Crudaders, 7-5, FHU bounced back to defeat the Johnson (Tenn. ) University Royals in walk off fashion, 7-6.

The Lady Lions (2-3) started quickly with
Karli Quillin sending the first pitch of the game into the outfield for a leadoff single. Four batters later,
Reagan Locke singled home Quillin and moved
Myleah Hardy, on base after a walk, into scoring position. Lynnee Brown connected for a three-run blast to give FHU an early edge.
While FHU put up one massive inning, the Crusaders (11-3) plated two runs in the second and the fourth before taking the lead with a three-run fourth inning.

Karli Quillin each had two hits, while Brown's three RBI led FHU.
Locke (0-1) got the start in the circle where she tossed 4 1/3 innings.

Karli Quillin led off the game with a single, later scoring with
Reagan Locke's RBI single. Then with a pair of runners aboard,
Lynnlee Brown smacked a homer to left and put FHU on top by four.

After a pair of scoreless innings, the Crusaders added the tying runs thanks to back-to-back doubles.

Locke made the Crusaders nervous with a two-out solo homer, but that was the last run the Lady Lions could score.

It took until the third inning for FHU (3-3) to score, but three straight base hits including an RBI double for
Myleah Hardy put FHU on the board. A dropped sacrifice fly provided the opportunity for two more runs to score for FHU.
Johnson (2-4) answered with a four-run fourth thanks in part to a three-run homer to take a 4-3 lead.
Karli Quillin singled home a run to knot the game 4-4. Neither team would score until the top of the seventh when a two-run single gave the Royals a lead, but as the home team, FHU had the final try at the plate.
Chloe Carter led off the inning with a single before Hardy tied the game with a two-run homer to right.
Reagan Locke later doubled to give
Briley Wigginton the opportunity to drive in the winning run when she did with a single to left.
Wigginton led the Lady Lions with three base hits while
Chloe Carter and
Myleah Hardy each had two.
Katy Gartrell (1-0) got the victory in relief of starter
Hannah Jones, striking out four Royals in two innings.

Johnson added two more runs, but a great throw from Quillin helped FHU avoid further damage by getting the batter out who was trying to stretch a single into a double.Â

Myleah Hardy smashed her season's fourth homer to tie the game at six.
Reagan Locke lifted a one-out double to put the winning run into scoring position. After moving to third on a fly out, Wigginton had the heroic hit with a single to left.
