LEBANON, Tenn. — After falling on Friday, the (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions took the series with a pair of doubleheader victories over the (RV) Cumberland University Phoenix. FHU took the first game, 2-0, before winning in a shootout, 10-7.

(RV) Cumberland - 0

The Lady Lions (6-9, 1-1 MSC) were locked in at the plate, connecting for 10 hits in the victory including the solo homer from Myleah Hardy.

Cumberland (6-10, 1-1 MSC) struggled at the plate in the first game of the day, only finishing with three base hits.

FHU had two-hit games from Lynnlee Brown, Myleah Hardy, and Reagan Locke in the victory.

Katy Gartrell (2-3) was nearly untouchable, striking out 13 Phoenix batters in the shutout win.

(RV) Freed-Hardeman - 10
(RV) Cumberland - 7

Both the Lady Lions (7-9, 2-1 MSC) and the Phoenix had no trouble putting the bat on the ball, combining for 18 hits and 17 runs in the second game. 

Freed-Hardeman took a big lead over the Phoenix (6-11, 1-2 MSC) with a seven-run fourth inning including two-run doubles from Myleah Hardy and Hannah Jones.

Karli Quillin drove in two runs with three hits in the victory while Myleah Hardy's two hits drove in two runs.

Hannah Jones (4-2) completed the game in the circle to get the victory with one strikeout.

The Lady Lions took advantage of three errors by the Phoenix, with the biggest coming when Karli Quillin's single drove in one run while the error in the outfield allowed Hannah Jones to cross as an unearned run.

Myleah Hardy led off the inning with a single, later scoring on Reagan Locke's RBI single.

Two early singles was followed by a two-run double to tie the game.

FHU exploded for seven runs in the top of the fourth frame. Quillin drove in a run with a single before Hardy connected for a double to drive in two more runs. Locke drew a bases-loaded walk before Jones' double drove home a pair of FHU runs. Christa Warren's sacrifice fly ended the Lady Lions scoring.

Bottom 7
Fighting to complete the comeback, the Phoenix plated four runs in the home half of the seventh inning including a two-run double before the Lady Lions secured the final out for the win.
