BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. — Stepping out of Mid-South Conference play, the (RV) Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions headed south to face the (RV) Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) University Toppers for a midweek doubleheader. The Lady Lions won the first game, 4-1, before falling in five innings, 8-0, in the finale.

FHU (8-9) took an early lead when
Reagan Locke singling home a pair of runners to get the Lady Lion scoring started. Though the Toppers would score a run in the bottom of the first, FHU locked in and kept the hosts off the scoreboard the remainder of the game.
Christa Warren had an RBI single in the fourth before Locke's two-out double sent FHU's final run across to defeat the Toppers (17-4-1) in the first game of the day.
The Lady Lions tallied nine hits in the win with
Lynnlee Brown,
Reagan Locke,
Christa Warren, and
Karli Quillin each finishing with two hits.
Hannah Jones (5-2) went the distance, striking out five without allowing an earned run.

The second game was less kind to the Lady Lions (8-10) with
Madelyn Cornelius and
Alivia Eggleston connecting for FHU's only hits in the game.
From the other dugout, the Blue Mountain Christian (18-4-1) plated eight runs on nine hits to get the victory.
It was feast or famine for starter
Katy Gartrell (2-4), who was charged with the loss despite striking out seven Topper batters.
