GULF SHORES, Ala. — Against a pair of top-25 teams, the (RV) Lady Lions came up short to open the Gulf Shores Invitational. A big fourth inning from the No. 23 Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagles ended the game after five innings with a 12-1 score. In the second game of the day, the Lady Lions fell behind in the final innings in a 9-8 loss to the No. 6 Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) University Saints.

Though the Lady Lions (3-5) scored the first run of the game, the TAMUT Eagles were zeroed in from the start, pounding out 13 hits in four innings at the plate.
The big inning for the Eagles (13-4) was the fourth when they plated eight runs.
Chloe Carter had two of FHU's seven hits with five other Lady Lions in the hit column.
Katy Gartrell (1-1) had the start where she struck out four batters in three innings.

Reagan Locke and
Annalee Qualls each had two-run hits in the third inning before Locke cleared the bases with a three-run triple in the fourth.
Our Lady of the Lake (15-2) climbed back in the final two frames, scoring three in both the sixth and seventh innings to snatch the victory.
Karli Quillin was 3-for-4 as the leadoff Lady Lions while
Reagan Locke's two hits drove in five runs.
Locke had the start in the circle where she punched out three Saints in six innings before giving way to
Katy Gartrell (1-2) who was charged with the loss.
