Freed-Hardeman track teams completed their season at the Mid-South Outdoor Championship in Columbia, Ky. at Lindsey Wilson University on May 3 and 4. The teams finished the event with seven new personal records and one school record.
Jay Hunt set a new PR in the 100m with a time of 11.73 seconds. Three runners set new PRs in the 1500m, Barrett Poe and Brock Windham both set one-second PRs, and Tristan Pharr set a seven-second PR. Barrett Poe set a new PR while also breaking the school record in the 3,000m Steeplechase. The PR of 9:34.15 placed him second in the conference! To finish it up for the men, Greer Davis set a five-inch PR in the shot put with a throw of 8.59 meters, equal to 28 feet, 2.25 inches.
For the women, Sophia Sodergren set a PR in the 100m with a time of 13.86 seconds. The top eight runners in the preliminaries advanced to the finals in the 100m and 200m. LaCaria Moore missed the finals by one spot and .03 seconds in the 100m. Moore finished seventh in the 200m preliminaries, and then finished sixth in the finals! Mary Pearce in sixth and Hanna Cherry in ninth both finished top-10 in the 800m, and Pearce also finished fourth in the 1500m. Eliza Poe ended the season with a runner-up finish in the 5000m race.
This race concluded the end of the track and field season. This season, every single athlete set at least one new PR, and set 13 new school records. The new school records include: LaCaria Moore (women's 100m & 200m), Mary Pearce (women's 1500m), Ellie Chumley (women's shot put), 4x10om women's relay, Jackson Overton (men's 100m & 200m), Barrett Poe (men's 1500m & 3000m Steeplechase), Oakley White (men's high jump), Caleb Gallagher (men's long jump), Jonah Gardner (men's shot put), and Greer Davis (men's javelin).
