The Freed-Hardeman University JV Lions fall in both games against the Northwest Shoals (Ala.) Community College Patriots. The JV Lions opened up with this home game to start off the 2024 season.
In game one,
Matthew Carver (0-1) got the start for the Lions going 2 1/3 innings allowing three hits two earned runs and two strikeouts.
Justin Whitman was first in relief allowing one hit on 2 2/3 innings pitched and striking out three batters.
Joe Romines closed down the game throwing two innings allowing no hits no earned runs and striking out one batter. The Lions on offense were only able to muster two hits. Gage burt led off the inning in the bottom of the third with a loud single and was brought home by a
Ben Turner run on error. The Lions fell 4-1.
In game two,
Tyler Wingard (0-1) got the start allowing six hits on two innings pitched and striking out 2 batters.
Riley Keesey came in relief pitching three innings allowing two hits no earned runs on four strikeouts. Jackson Fitzwilson and Stephan Overstreet completed the rest of the ballgame. The Lions were able to add two runs on the board with a
Kobe Pridemore RBI single and a
Ben Turner RBI fielder's choice. The Lions fell in game two 11-2.
The JV Lions will be back in action for a nine-inning ballgame starting at 2:00 P.M. against NW Shoals CC.
