The Freed-Hardeman University JV Lions wrapped up their season with splitting against Knights Academy. The Lions fell in game one by a score of 10 to 8. The Lions were lead by two hit days by
Chase Eakes and
Sam Williams.
The Lions were in a hole 10-0 going onto the bottom of the fourth inning when the bats came to life. After
Max Kirby lead off the inning with a walk,
Gage Burt reached first base on a single on his own.
Sam Williams loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch. After a catcher error and a
Hayden Gerrey 2-RBI single, the Lions able to add some runs. After back to back RBI singles the Lions ended the ending by adding five runs.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, with a
Gage Burt walk and a
Sam Williams double, Ethan Quinn was able to plate one home with a single. With the bases loaded,
Chance Wilkens grounded into a double play to bring home another run after the wild pitch brought home
Sam Williams. The Lions would not be able to add anymore runs after falling 10-8.
Matthew Carver started on the mound for the Lions picking up the lost pitching three and one-third innings allowing six hits.
Riley Keesey was first in relief allowing three hits on one earned run and striking out three batters.
Justin Whitman closed out the game pitching one inning and allowing no hits.
After the rain delay, the Lions were able to bounce back and win game two by a score of 5-2.
