HENDERSON - The Freed-Hardeman University JV Lions defeated the Dyersburg State CC Eagles 12-4 in the nine inning contest. The Lions were lead offensively by Kimmy Johnson,
Lane Lawson, and Nate Lewis who all recorded two hits each on the day.
Jackson Fitzwilson started on the mound for the Lions pitching four innings allowing five hits three earned runs and striking out one batter.
Tyler Wingard (1-1) got the win pitching three innings one hit one earned run and striking out one batter.
Justin Whitman finished the ballgame going two innings no hits and one strikeout.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Lions really set the tone for the rest of the ballgame.
Max Kirby led off the inning with a single. After a Alejandro Claro walk and
Jackson Vize walk, Ethan Quinn brought one home with a walk of his own. The Lions were able to bring home two runs on a wild pitch.
Lane Lawson finally closed out the inning with a 3-run home run to cap off the six run inning for the Lions.Â
The Lions will be back in action on March 13 for a doubleheader at Williams Baptist starting at 1:00 P.M.
