The Freed-Hardeman University JV Lions split this afternoon versus Williams Baptist (Ark.) University Eagles.

In game one, the Lions got things going in the bottom of the first inning. With the bases loaded, Blayne Highfill draws the walk to bring home one. Sam Williams lines a hard 2-RBI single that helps the Lions go up 3-0. In the bottom of the second inning, Jackson Vize leads off with a walk. Ben Turner brings him home with a RBI single. JP Key brings him home with a RBI double. With back to back singles by Gage Burt and Stephan Overstreet, Max Kirby was able to bring home one on a sacrifice fly. Lions lead 8-2 after two innings; however, poor pitching hurts the Lions. Lions fall 13-8. Justin Whitman (0-1) got the lost for the Lions pitching three innings allowing five hits and striking out three batters. Matthew Carver came in relief throwing four innings allowing 2 hits and striking out four batters. 

In game two, pitching was strong for the Lions as they won 4-0. Tyler Wingard started pitching three innings allowing three hits and striking out two batters Hunter Bennett (1-0) got the win pitching two innings no hits and striking out four batters. Jackson Fitzwilson closed down the ballgame with the save with pitching two innings allowing no hits and striking out one batter. In the bottom of the first inning, Ben Turner leads off the game with a double. Blayne Highfill brings him home with a RBI fielder's choice. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Stephan Overstreet leads off the inning with a single. RBIs from JP Key, Blayne Highfill, and Max Kirby. Lions win 4-0.
