BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Freed-Hardeman University's men's golf team joined the other six teams in the Mid-South Conference for the MSC Fall Preview. After turning in a team 317 (+29) in the first round and 232 (+35) on a rain-interrupted second round, the FHU team shot 298 (+10) on the third round to finish in seventh place with 938 (+74).
Drew Massengale led the FHU team in the tournament, finishing in a tie for 24th place after shooting 230 (+14). In the first round he carded back-to-back birdies on the par-4 15th and 16th holes to finish at 80 (+8). Improving each round, his 78 (+6) in the second round was highlighted by two par-5 birdies on the second and fifth holes. In the final round he carded even par with 72 (E) where he had three birdies to go along with his 12 pars.
Lane Walton and
Lucas Gupton each finished in a tie for 30th place with 235 (+19). Walton had a par-5 birdie in the first round helped him card 80 (+8) before a par-4 birdie in the second to shoot 84 (+12). His third round was the best round of any Lion golfer with birdies on the first, second, and eighth holes helping him shoot 71 (-1). Gupton's first and third rounds were a roller coaster with him sinking four birdies in the first to end with 76 (+4) and five in the third to tally 78 (+6).Â
Gabe Webb and
Ben Sebilian tied for 40th place with 241 (+25). Webb had an outstanding final round where he jumped three spots on the leaderboard with five birdies to card 77 (+5). Sebilian was a master of the 18th hole, finishing with a birdie on the par-5 hole in all three rounds. His third round also included to more birdies to shoot 241 (+25).
Individual
Carson Nau had one birdie in each round to tie for 34th place with 236 (+20) while Eli Kibble landed in 47th place with 252 (+37) with birdies in the second and third rounds.
