Second annual FHU golf fundraiser tournament to spotlight alumni players

HENDERSON — Freed-Hardeman University invites golfers and enthusiasts alike to take part in the Second Annual FHU Golf Fundraiser Tournament Monday, June 8, at Brentwood Country Club, located at 5123 Country Club Drive in Brentwood, Tennessee. This year's tournament will highlight FHU Golf alumni Ben Burnette and Kayland (Boling) Wilson while continuing to honor the memory of former golf coach Dr. Cliff Bennett.

An avid golfer himself, FHU President-elect Keith Harris looks forward to participating in the tournament and supporting the program firsthand. "Golf has a unique way of building relationships, and this event reflects that spirit so well. I'm grateful for the alumni and supporters who are investing in our students, and I'm excited to be part of a day that continues to strengthen and grow the program in the years ahead."

FHU Golf alumnus Ben Burnette (class of 2018) competed on four successful Lions teams that recorded multiple tournament victories. His senior squad reached No. 22 in the April 2018 coaches poll, and he earned multiple All-Tournament Team honors.

Alumna Kayland (Boling) Wilson (class of 2019) captured two individual championships, earned numerous All-Tournament honors and was a two-time All-Conference selection. She helped lead the Lady Lions to 14 team titles and competed on the only women's golf team in FHU history to receive a national ranking.

The tournament will also continue the tradition of honoring the legacy of Dr. Cliff Bennett, a beloved FHU alumnus from the class of 1961 and former golf coach. Alongside his wife, Nancy, Bennett made a lasting impact on the university through his coaching and the Cliff and Nancy Bennett Endowed Scholarship, which continues to support students today.

Proceeds from the tournament will support and strengthen the golf program that meant so much to Burnette, Wilson, Bennett and countless other FHU alumni.

Several sponsorship opportunities are available for companies, businesses and foundations interested in supporting the event. Current tournament partners include RJ Young, Pathward, VMG Health and The Parker Group at Baird.
